The parishes of St. Pius X and Holy Spirit came together on May 3, 2009 for their Parish Stewardship Conference at the St. Paul’s Retreat Centre, East Coast Demerara. After three short presentations by the members of the Diocesan Stewardship Council the participants went into groups for discussion. The three sessions were aimed at affirming that each Christian is called to discipleship patterned on the life of Jesus and therefore is as steward of the Church and in the various places where they find themselves in the world.
After the lunch break participants gathered for a session examining how parishioners share their time, talent and resources with the community. Participants also learnt the benefits of being a stewardship parish. To close the day they were asked to share the difficulties and dreams of the parish. The day culminated with Mass celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Francis Alleyne, OSB.
